God’s Mercy Beyond Boundaries is the heart of this Sunday’s readings, revealing a God whose mercy knows no limits.

The prophet Isaiah announces: “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” God’s house is open to everyone. God’s heart is larger than human boundaries. In Isaiah’s vision, God’s Mercy Beyond Boundaries becomes a promise extended to all peoples.

Paul insists that no one is beyond God’s reach. Even human disobedience becomes an opening for God’s mercy. His gifts and call are irrevocable.

God’s Mercy Beyond Boundaries in the Gospel

In the gospel we hear a story of perseverance, humility, and faith that refuses to give up. A Gentile mother pleads for her daughter’s healing. Jesus’ initial silence and challenging words highlight the tension between Israel’s mission and the Gentiles. Her persistent faith breaks through barriers, and Jesus praises her: “Great is your faith!” God’s mercy goes beyound boundaries.

The Canaanite woman shows that even those who feel “outside” are welcomed by God. The solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was observed yesterday, August 15, shows where that welcome leads: into God’s eternal embrace.

Lord of mercy and hope, You gather all peoples into Your embrace and call us to widen our hearts. Through the faith of the Canaanite woman and the glory of Mary’s Assumption, remind us that Your love knows no boundaries. May we live with compassion, welcome the stranger, and trust that Your mercy will lead us home. Amen.
